Did you know Cleavers (aka Sticky Weed, Sticky Willy or Goose Grass!) is a lymphatic cleansing plant and can aid a restful sleep?
"Cleavers begins to sprout when our immune systems may be tired and sluggish from a long winter. This little garden weed can be used whenever we feel the need for a little extra immune system support, and has the perfect timing to help us as a spring tonic and cleanser" (Agatha Noveille, Herbalist)
Because exposing cleavers to the heat of boiling may harm the nutrients in the plant, preparing a cold infusion with cleavers is one of the best ways to use them.
Generally, cleaver cold infusions are safe to consume in pregnancy & postpartum, in moderation. Cleavers have a mild diuretic effect.
To make a cold infusion of Cleavers:
Pick a handful or two of Cleavers from your garden or local woodland.
Rinse under cold water
Put in a jug or large water bottle (not plastic)
Add lemon slices (optional)
Top up with fresh water
Keep in your fridge for up to 3 days.
For best effects, drink 2-3 glasses per day.
